Highly anticipated movies with dragons in them!

This month has seen the release of two massive news announcements for dragon fans;

How To Train Your Dragon 2 has officially been given a release date of Summer 2013 AND will star all of its original voice cast! Read the full Dragon News story here

Also, a lesser known dragon film has been revealed and will be released in cinema's soon! This film is called Age of the Dragons and has a really intriguing concept. It's a retelling of the classic tale of Moby Dick but they're hunting a dragon instead of a whale! How cool is that? I really like the idea that they've used the same concept, character names and format and potentially have come up with something completely new for dragon fans to go and see with their popcorn! It's been too long since we've seen a live action movie based on dragons in the cinema.

BUT, there are also cool new dragon movies coming out straight to DVD! One in particular that looks pretty cool is called Dragon Hunter. There are some really good special features on the special effects available to watch for free on You Tube, and you can but the full film from Amazon and other online stores today!

That's not all folks, in the next couple of years there is a lot more dragon fun to look forward to on the silver screen and two sequences in particular that I CANNOT WAIT to see. Both feature in probably two of the most popular and well known fantasy books of all time and both are eagerly awaited and will probably smash all box office records.

First up: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

This has one EPIC dragon sequence for us to see. I won't spoil the film but for those that know what we can expect, it's going to be fast, frantic and edge of your seat - knee trembling excitement, for sure!

Until the film is released you can always stick in Goblet of Fire for your dragon chase fix:

The second, if you haven't guessed it by now you should blush, it's...

The Hobbit!

Of course it is! OK, so we're all going to have to wait a lot longer than this summer before we get to see it in the cinema, but i'm sure we'll get a few preview pics and snippets of fun before the release date. I'll keep my eyes peeled and update Dragon News when we spot anything!

Until we get to see Smaug in action I'm sure we'll be kept busy with a few distractions along the way!
